Moo0 Audio Recorder is like Windows Audio Recorder on steroids. I think it is the best alternative to Audacity if you only use Audacity to record audio in mp3, since Audacity creates huge temporary files in lossless format (~20 MB per minute of recording) and then you have to use the export option to be able to get the mp3 file. I loved Audacity until I had the need to record several hours of audio, and Audacity started crashing due to lack of RAM and insufficient hard drive space due to its huge temporary files. Now, since I started using Moo0 Audio Recorder I have had no problems recording long audios lasting several hours. The program is lightweight, consumes little RAM, and you can record and pause with auto-save without having to export.
Discontinued ? Last update was v47 (29-Jun-2019) ... and before that 2007 13 months ago is hardly time enough to declare "discontinued" ? Hardly discontinued ... but slow to update

not bad just careful to not install junkware
