Some time ago, Mixamo was universally recommended as the go-to for aspiring animators to download fully rigged characters to start animating with. I found that it requires you to have an Adobe account.
Characters3D doesn't require an account. It doesn't have many of the advanced features of Mixamo, but as far as just downloading models and/or animations, it's as simple as they come and doesn't require signing up for an account.
