What is MilkDrop?
MilkDrop is an open source, hardware-accelerated music visualization plugin for Winamp, which was originally developed by Ryan Geiss. It uses DirectX and intelligent beat detection to render iterated images which blend seamlessly. MilkDrop uses a complex system of interpolation to transition between presets gradually through time, creating a constantly changing visual experience.
Comments and Reviews
This is my favourite audio-visualizing plugin, its capabilities are impressing, and stock presets library is very satisfying. User can create own visualizations with built-in language. You don't have to limit yourself to using this with WinAmp, as many programs, i.e. XMPlay have wrappers/support for Winamp plugin API.
It was great in it's hayday. Wish it was modernized a bit to use more modern Media players or foobar.
