I like that it can show only the users who are currently online , you can quote messages when replying and can edit your messages after sending them . Plus it is open source and the developer is receptive to feedback (adding the ability to see who is online is an external request).

MeroChat is a random chat for people who actually just want to chat.
Text based (no nasty video suprises!), 1-on-1 (no being drowned in group messages!), actual profiles (as anonymous as you want it to be). Strictly moderated with a karma system to unlock sensitive features.

I think its strength is precisely its simplicity and essentiality that leaves space and relevance only for user interactions. It has a disarming authenticity.
