libonvif (onvif-tools) is described as 'A client side implementation of the ONVIF specification for Linux, Mac and Windows. Included are two tools for communicating with cameras, a command line program, onvif-util, and a program with a Graphical User Interface, onvi-gui' and is an app. There are three alternatives to libonvif (onvif-tools) for Linux and Windows. The best libonvif (onvif-tools) alternative is OnvifDeviceManager, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like libonvif (onvif-tools) are ONVIF Device Manager and ONVIFViewer.
The goal of this project is to implement a Onvif Device Manager similar to the windows client, compatible for linux. I'm also working on adding some Profile T capabilities, such as bidirectional audio.

The goal of this project is to replace the proprietary app that was needed to configure and view my IP camera. The ONVIF protocol can be used to view and configure many types of camera's and is a open standard that can be implemented using standard SOAP libraries.
