What is Jollycat?

Jollycat is a native macOS file converter that handles images, videos, audio, documents, and PDFs — all running locally on your Mac with zero cloud uploads. Drop files in, pick a format, and Jollycat routes through 9 bundled open-source engines (FFmpeg, libvips, ImageMagick, Pandoc, qpdf, Poppler, Tesseract, Whisper.cpp, Real-ESRGAN) to find the optimal conversion path across 1,650+ possible routes.

Built with Tauri 2 (Rust) and optimized for Apple Silicon with hardware acceleration (VideoToolbox for video, CoreML/Neural Engine for AI), it supports batch processing, video trimming/cropping/speed control, PDF split/merge/compress, OCR for scanned documents, AI image upscaling (2x/4x via Real-ESRGAN), speech-to-text transcription (Whisper), and text-to-speech (Kokoro TTS).

Jollycat also ships a built-in MCP server, letting AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf) call it directly to convert files as part of automated workflows.

One-time purchase ($9.99), 5 Mac activations, lifetime updates. No subscription, no accounts, no telemetry.
