What is IE Tab?

IE Tab emulates Internet Explorer icon Internet Explorer by using the IE rendering engine directly within Chrome. This will enable you to use ActiveX controls and test your web pages with different versions of IE (IE6, IE7, IE8, or IE9).

  • Run Legacy Web Apps. Sharepoint? ActiveX? Silverlight? Java? IE Tab runs them all in Chrome seamlessly and transparently, no more browser switching.
  • Use IE Securely Running old versions of IE is risky, but IE Tab can be locked down so it is only used on the sites that need it. Use Chrome with IE Tab as a guard against those Zero-Day IE bugs. *GPO Deployment Full support for Group Policy deployment. Set the URLs you need to open with IE Tab and deploy them with Group Policy.
  • Support for language translations.
  • Auto URL exclusions. This enables you to set a broad Auto URL for a site, and then set one-off exclusions for pages that you still want to be loaded with Chrome.
  • We now hide the search box by default. You can still enable it from the options page.
