Gunners File Type Editor allows you to you to create/modify various properties for file extensions. Each user can have different properties for a file extension. For example, the default program to open .txt files when you double click on a file with the .txt extension is Notepad. GFTE allows you to change that.

This seems to do a halfway sort of job. While it lets you choose a program to open a file type with, it doesn't give you a clearcut way to set the path.
Everything works _except _commiting changes you've made using the file extension editor (available as a right-click option).
Not sure if the issue is related to Windows 10 or not.. but it's definitely a deal-breaker. I did encounter similar issues using the program "Types", but only for certain file extensions (e.g. *.URL).
In addition, the official website was last updated on: 03/31/2013 10:47:35.
That said, there's a good chance Vista/XP users can still use it. However, I would personally look elsewhere - as the "open with" options were limited to what it could automatically detect. I was only able to choose around 20 options, which honestly seemed totally random.
