What is Grammar Tool?
Grammar Tool helps you learn basic English grammar in an effective, new way; by swiping words in 3D: watch the pronoun come alive while you listen to the pronunciation. This app offers an effective way of keeping learners engaged, especially those that have trouble concentrating while doing more traditional styles of schoolwork. With its emphasis on touch, visuals and sound, this app is an effective learning aid for all learning styles - visual, auditory and tactile / kinesthetic.
It has three modes - explore, practice, and play - all designed to engage learners while learning:
- In ”Explore” the learner chooses a grammatical category, fx. possessive adjectives, and then swipes, while he or she watch the scenes fly by and listen to the pronunciation of the pronoun. This mode gives the learner an effective way to come back to difficult grammatical concepts for clarification and review the content of the various grammatical terms.
- In ”Practice” the learner has 8 lessons to choose from; subject, object, reflexive and possessive adjectives and pronouns. By swiping the learner selects his or her answer and instantly gets feedback. After the lesson the learner receives a score based on his or her performance.
- The ”Play” mode has two games: Text-to-picture and Picture-to-text. Both games are designed to be as engaging and addictive as any non-educational games, meant to be played again and again, while learning takes place ”in the background”.
The diverse content allows for differentiation in the classroom, making it possible for learners to work with the English grammar lessons that fits their level. Beginners can work with subject and object pronouns,, then move on to reflexive, possessive adjectives etc.
