FreeVTT

FreeVTT is a free virtual tabletop built for running D&D and tabletop RPG campaigns without the usual barriers. No subscriptions, no accounts, no internet connection needed. Everything runs locally on the user's device, so campaign data stays private and never touches a server. The local-first architecture means games are saved directly to the device, with no dependency on someone else's cloud to keep things safe.

Out of the box, FreeVTT includes the full 2024 D&D 5e SRD with monsters, spells, classes, items, and more. It supports multiple game systems, including D&D 5e (2024 and 2014 editions), Pathfinder 2e, and fully custom setups for homebrew rules and content. The feature set covers what you'd expect from a modern VTT and then some: dynamic lighting with wall collision, fog of war, interactive tokens with HP and AC tracking, a dice roller, initiative tracker, spell templates, drawing tools, measurement tools, a music player, and the ability to upload custom maps and art.

Mobile support is a core part of the design, not an afterthought. A lot of players join sessions from a phone or a tablet at the kitchen table, and FreeVTT handles that well. The interface scales properly, touch controls feel natural, and the whole group can play regardless of what device they're using.

There are too many players and not enough DMs in the TTRPG hobby, and part of the problem is that running games can get expensive fast. FreeVTT exists to lower that barrier. It's a full-featured virtual tabletop that doesn't gate anything behind a paywall, doesn't collect user data, and doesn't require an account to get started. It's built for the DMs and GMs who keep this hobby going.
