A seriously bad installer, which tried to trick me into installing Wajam, not so dishonestly trying to get me to install TuneUp Utilities, and then offered something called Web Bar - some kind of browser toolbar - with NO option to avoid getting landed with it. At that point I decided enough was enough and ditched Freemak Audio Converter. A pity because I'd have liked to try it.

PUP.Optional.Opencandy.A is deemed as potentially unwanted program that performs malicious actions once installed on the computer.

This software is flagged by MalwareBytes Anti-Malware when the setup file is loaded.

From Wikipedia: OpenCandy from SweetLabs, a company based in San Diego, is an advertising software module consisting of a Microsoft Windows library that can be incorporated in a Windows Installer. When a user installs an application that has the OpenCandy library, there is an option to install software that it recommends (based on a scan of the user's system and geolocation).

The software was originally developed for the DivX installation, by CEO Darrius Thompson. When installing DivX, the user was prompted to optionally install the Yahoo! Toolbar. DivX received $15.7 million during the first nine months of 2008 from Yahoo and other software developers, after 250 million downloads.

Chester Ng, the former DivX business development director, is chief business officer and Mark Chweh, former DivX engineering director, is chief technology officer.

It has been reported that a number of anti-malware vendors flag OpenCandy as unwanted software.

Version: 3.1.2 Release date: September 26, 2012 Its a great conversion tool with support for a lot of formats and a very simple and neat interface. It has options to join multiple files as well as rip audio from existing files and online sources. Great stuff.

However, there is no option to add Id3 tags. A major drawback as after you convert the file you will need another software to actually set the ID3 tags and album art. May be future versions could incorporate this feature. But as of the time of this review, it lacks one major feature in mp3 conversion. Personally I'm using Mp3Tag

I personally prefer the Easy CD-DA extractor, however its not a free software and I was looking for something to replace that.

Keep up the development and make this the ultimate tool in Audio Conversion.
