What is FontForge?
Fontforge is a free Typeface (font) editor program for Windows, Mac OS X and GNU+Linux and is localized in several languages.
Use it to create, edit and convert fonts in OpenType, TrueType, UFO, CID-keyed, Multiple Master, and many other formats.
Fontforge supports several font formats like TrueType, PostScript, OpenType, CID-keyed, multi-master, CFF, SVG, BDF, Datafork TrueType, etc. Fontforge can convert fonts from one format to another.
FontForge can also store fonts in its native format called “spline font database files” using the .sfd extension, which has the advantage that is text-based.

Comments and Reviews
The UI sure is something else, but it does what every other program of it's kind can and that on any OS for free and open source. It even allows the import and print of images, scripting and the export for the Mac Family.
(The UI is adjustable)
It's solid and functional, but the user interface is GOD AWFUL. It's like something made for robots. It hurts my eyes to look at it, and hurts my brain to think where a certain option might or might not be placed and how it might be named. Classic open source syndrome. Needs a MAJOR ui overhaul.
It's one of the best font creator app that i've tested, stable, solid, a little old UI but this don't affect his functionality.
This does good for font creation, I used a program similar to this when I made up my own fonts, I just dont remember what that old program was called anymore.
