Filter Forge information
What is Filter Forge?
Filter Forge is a robust graphics software that provides a vast library of over 6700 photo and video effects. This expansive collection is free to access and includes a wide variety of effects such as cartoon and watercolor effects, frames, distortions, and glitches. The software allows users to apply an effect to any image or video, adjust its settings, explore 30,000 randomized variations, and save preferred presets. Creating an effect that would typically require hours in other software can be accomplished in just a few clicks with Filter Forge.
In addition to its effects library, Filter Forge is capable of generating seamless textures with a multitude of randomized variations. All textures in Filter Forge are procedural, meaning they can be rendered in any resolution, even up to 65000 x 65000 pixels. Texture filters that support physically-based rendering (PBR) can produce PBR texture maps, such as Albedo, Roughness, and Normal Map, making them suitable for use in 3D packages and game engines like Unreal or Unity 3D.
Filter Forge also includes a node-based Filter Editor, enabling users to create their own filters without the need for coding. Filters are constructed from components that represent common image operations, including Blur, Levels, Invert, Gradient, or Perlin Noise. The software allows users to open library filters in the Filter Editor to examine and modify them to suit their requirements. Filters created in this manner will automatically support seamless tiling, random variations, and PBR texture maps.
