What is Explorer Suite?
Created by Daniel Pistelli, a freeware suite of tools including a PE editor called CFF Explorer and a process viewer. The PE editor has full support for PE32/64. Special fields description and modification (.NET supported), utilities, rebuilder, hex editor, import adder, signature scanner, signature manager, extension support, scripting, disassembler, dependency walker etc. First PE editor with support for .NET internal structures. Resource Editor (Windows Vista icons supported) capable of handling .NET manifest resources. The suite is available for x86 and x64.
Comments and Reviews
I have used this tool for years. While it does have a few issues, so far its the most complete and easily usable tool I have found to examination and in some cases modification of PE files. Cons Observed: Big File loading issues( if your file is large the program may take a short bit to open) It can crash under certain situations( from what ive observed this usually happens if imports and or exports are really long and mangled) Pros: Relatively Easy to use Uses lowish resources (this depends on the file you are opening) Has a surprising number of features. (even without installing any plugins) Room for Improvement: Possibly cleaner UI Better Handling of Large Files A fix for the import/export crash corner case Horizontal-scroll for the import/export window
