What is DroidScript?
DroidScript is a Development Environment for Android apps that runs on Android devices.
Apps can be built into an APK (Android Package) that can be loaded to the Google Play Store for other people to download and use.
It is maintained and supported by a non-profit organization.
There have been over a million downloads of DroidScript.
Apps can be of two major types Native and HTML.
Native apps are written in javascript with DroidScript objects and methods for Layout; UI Controls; access to files, camera, bluetooth, database, networks, Sensors (Accelerometer, Compass, Light meter ...) etc.
HTML apps are HTML that can include css and javascript.
Functionality can be extended by the use of plugins, and a considerable number have been written and are available for download. For example to control BBC microbit, Lego Mindstorms NXT, and Puck microcontroller, Espruino boards, Arduino boards,
It includes a reference for the objects and methods, with examples and samples that can be run, copied and adapted.
Free support is available thru Google Groups, with the option of Premium support.
The editor includes a context sensitive "smart edit" that assists in choosing objects/methods/parameters.

Nice tool to quickly develop things, either using the plain javascript API it provides, or by combining it with regular HTML/CSS things.
Plugins (as well as the Web IDE Extensions) make possible to extend its functionalities.
Only 4 stars because (at the moment) the free version doesn't allow to produce apk/aab (you'll need a premium subscription).
Anyway, I use it a lot!

I've been using Droidscript for about 6 months now and absolutely love it.
Since I'm a hardcore programmer, I subscribe to the premium service primarily to support development and to get access to the premium features.
Droidscript is presented as an educational app, but don't be fooled by that - there really is nothing you cannot do with Droidscript.
