Dokly information
What is Dokly?
Dokly is a documentation platform for developers, startups, and open source projects. It lets you create and publish professional docs sites without any code, git workflows, or complex setup.
You get a visual block editor with MDX components (callouts, tabs, code blocks, API references), custom domain support (docs.yourcompany.com), full-text search, and your own branding.
What makes Dokly different:
AI writing assistant using your own API key (OpenAI or Anthropic) — no markup fees. Most competitors charge $10-20/mo extra for AI or lock it behind enterprise plans. With Dokly, you pay the API provider directly at cost, typically $1-2/mo for normal usage.
Auto-generated llms.txt so AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can read and understand your documentation. This is built-in and updates automatically when you publish.
Transparent pricing. Mintlify charges $300/mo. Archbee advertises $50/mo but costs $230/mo with add-ons (AI, analytics, API access, widget are all extra). Dokly Pro is $49/mo with everything included. The free tier gives you 1 project with 5 pages and full editor access.
Built by a solo developer, bootstrapped, no VC funding. That means sustainable pricing that won't suddenly triple.
