Oh, how this site has fallen from grace. It used to be THE place for all amateur artists to go, with other art websites being too hostile to non-professionals. But then it changed its UI, which wouldn't have been a problem if they hadn't axed many useful UI features in the process. And THEN they introduced an "AI" art generator trained on users against their will, which led to many artists leaving, being replaced by cheap "AI" users. The homepage is now full of "AI" pornography, which is so rampant that moderation can't manage to get rid of them even though the site DOESN'T allow pornography in the first place. It's dire.
and most of those AI users are avoid IRL jobs for finds those jobs never make enough money for them, so they turns into Monetizing AI-generated works to become rich without effort

What has been done to the real, old site and its userbase is horrifying beyond any words. Should many other big sites follow Deviantart's dark fate, the future of the Internet is going to be truly disastrous.
It very clearly used to be the best art social network website overall before Wix.com acquired it in 2017. Ever since then, the site got worse over time.
I honestly don't know which update was the worst; either it was permanent Eclipse or DreamUp. I'll let you decide.
To be fair, I left the site in a fit of rage almost five years ago for reasons unrelated. Turns out I was right to leave the site... and at the right time.
I joined deviantart at too young an age honestly and used it for over ten years, after they rolled out eclipse I deleted every single thing I had ever uploaded there and stopped using it, everything I continue to hear about it is just worse and worse.
I used to love the site, it was where I discovered my interests as well become better person in either my artistic and writing skills, and this is how I become a person as of now
but Wix did turns Deviantart into HTFSocial(Encyclopedia Dramatica in the form of social media) spiritual successor from tendencies of banning cyberbullying victims instead of their perpetrators, since at the time of my harassment by certain Hungarian user. from forcing Eclipse layout to blindly chasing trends
