CPCE is described as 'Amstrad CPC emulator for DOS, DPMI and WIN32. Minimum requirements are 286 CPU, VGA graphics and DOS 3.0. Supports SVGA graphics, joystick and most sound cards. Features very complete emulation, digital tape formats (WAV, VOC, CSW, TZX and CDT), rasters, many video effects' and is an app. There are four alternatives to CPCE for Windows, Linux and Mac. The best CPCE alternative is Caprice32, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like CPCE are WinAPE, JavaCPC Desktop and CLK.


A latency-hating emulator of: the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro and Archimedes, Amstrad CPC, Apple II/II+/IIe and early Macintosh, Atari 2600 and ST, ColecoVision, Enterprise 64/128, Commodore Vic-20 and Amiga, MSX 1/2, Oric 1/Atmos, early PC compatibles, Sinclair ZX80/81 and ZX Spectrum.
