Copy Filenames Pro

This is all about comfort. It does nothing you couldn't do by yourself with a few keystrokes. But if you feel, like I do, that a few keystokes are "a- few-but-one" too many, this is the thing for you

  1. Can replace a file or file name directly from Explorer context menu with 2 clicks without typing a new name. I have yet to find another shell extension able to do this as quickly as this.

  2. Can also batch rename selected files directly from context menu as well, via a pop-up. Can easily add prefixes/suffixes or replace commonalities in bulk. More advanced renaming is possible but more complicated, and not as intuitive as Microsoft's PowerRename module that comes with PowerToys, but is faster.

Basically, I use this as a complement to another file renaming app; this program is great for quickly renaming a handful of selected files in Explorer. Anything more than that, I'll use my other more dedicated file renamer.

What is Copy Filenames Pro?

CopyFilenames is an extension for Windows Explorer. It cannot be run as a standalone application. It copies either the file name, with extension, or the full path to a file (holding Shift).

CopyFilenames can also be used to copy lots of filenames all in one go. By default, the filenames will be copied one per line. So, it's easy to make a list of files in any folder

You can also include the size of the file or the last-modified date instead of just the filename. To select these options, hold down the CTRL key while selecting the Copy Filenames to bring up the options panel. If you have selected the option to copy the full path, you can also select to have the backslashes doubled up or use forward slashes instead. There is also an option to include either single or double quotes around the names.

Finally, you can copy one filename, paste its name to another and delete the first one, all in one click
