What is ContentTrace?

ContentTrace is a free WordPress plugin that protects your blog posts from content theft.

How it works:

  1. Invisible Fingerprints -- Every post gets a unique hidden token that scrapers copy without knowing. Search for the token to find exactly who stole your content.
  2. Content Matching -- Even if someone removes the fingerprint, ContentTrace searches for unique phrases from your content to detect paraphrased copies.
  3. Archive.org Proof -- Automatic timestamped snapshots prove you published first.
  4. Takedown Generator -- Generate professional DMCA, EU Copyright Directive, and International takedown notices with all evidence included.

Free tier includes manual scanning (2 posts/week), 10 URL analyses/month, 20 text comparisons/month, and 5 takedown reports/month. Paid plans start at €29/year for automated nightly scanning and higher limits.

Unlike Copyscape (pay-per-search), ContentTrace is flat-rate and built directly into WordPress. Unlike content blockers (WP Content Protector), ContentTrace doesn't annoy your readers -- it catches thieves after the fact with forensic proof.

Open source plugin (GPL v2+). The analysis API is a proprietary service.
