What is CodePile?
CodePile is a simple, powerful, collaborative code sharing hub, built for the modern coder. It is, hands-down, the most beautiful app of it's kind, with a rich and expanding feature set.
With support for syntax highlighting, code hinting and snippet completion for over 100 languages, and 2 themes to suit your preference, CodePile feels a lot like an in-browser IDE. Shared links to your code can be either static or collaborative. If you choose to enable cooperative coding, the editor supports simultaneous cursors (think Google Docs) for live updates as you code. This feature also works great as a remote technical interview "whiteboard"!
CodePile allows you to take "snapshots" of the state of the editor at any time. Snapshots can be referenced later (even directly by a simple URL parameter), and restored to the live editor if needed.
A live chat sidebar feature with a persistent history functions as both a commenting board when no one is present, or as a live conversation panel when multiple users are viewing the code together.
Benefits to creating an account on CodePile include the ability to manage your Piles in your Profile, create Bookmarks to any Pile you want, and permanently delete your own Piles. Pile owners can also turn the Read-Only mode on and off as needed to prevent/allow others to edit.
Whether you need a quick way to share your next snippet of code, or a full-featured collaborative online editor for your team, give CodePile a try today.
Future enhancements on the roadmap include Teams, @targeting users in the Chat panel, and raw (plain/text) access to Pile contents. Stay tuned and happy Piling!
