offer free plan for zero trust protection, no bandwidth or speed limits, the limit is 50 seats for free plan which is plenty for personal uses
There is bandwidth threshholds after which their sales team contacts you. You just haven't hit them yet.

Challenge
Both Cloudflare owner Matthew Prince and the Cloudflare administration, have an history of censoring people and organizations with views they disagree with. In other words, if Cloudflare disagree with your personal views, it is risky that they will censor you. In turn, your visitors will not be able to access your content.
Of course Cloudflare are really free to do business or not do business with anyone to their liking. While at the same time, if someone use a website owned by Cloudflare to make a call for violence, does that make Cloudflare themselves calling for violence, anti-semitism, neo-nazy? Of course not. Because the user's views and her/his subject matter and contents thereof, such as, but not limited to, text, media, or otherwise, do not necessarily reflect the views of the Cloudflare administration. How about the same thing the other way around for Cloudflare's clients?

This thing is not solving any problems it supposed to, the protection it gives to the sites is bogus. On the other hand, the frustration people face every day from being blocked off a site is very much real. Thank you, Cloudflare, for ruining the internet and centralizing it in the claws of the cynical, greedy big corpo moguls. Cloudflare is a must if you intend on having a homelab, or just any server or app that you intend on opening to the internet.
As a sys admin and networking engineer, my life has been 600% easier just because of Cloudflare.
You can register a domain, protect it against DDoS attacks and you can even use DDNS if you don't have a static IP, Cloudflare APIs are pretty strong and there are loads of templates within Portainer that you can use for many different appliances.
All in all this is a must have even if you intend on running a single small website and best part is, they don't even charge you for all that. Yes you can pay for extra premium features but it is still in a coffe price range :D

Does wonders for website owners
HOWEVER - they have a VERY hypocritical love for censorship. They have voluntarily chosen to block access to multiple sites run by trolls and alleged right-wing extremists and yet they still host the websites that promote joining ISIL and discussions about killing white people
