What is changedetection.io?

An alternative to Visualping, Watchtower etc. Designed for simplicity - the main goal is to simply monitor which websites had a text change for free. Free Open source web page change detection
Know when web pages change! Stay on top of new information! Live your data-life pro-actively instead of re-actively.

It is open-source and self-hosted, hence YOU retain ownership of your accounts and data flows. Works in Windows and Linux, or they can host it for you.

Comments and Reviews
I like changedetection.io because you can run it yourself, Linux and Windows, or use their paid solution which is half the cost of the other guys and has unlimited checks and watches.
It does all the basic stuff when you just want to watch some pages for a change, but supports over 70 different notification backends (Discord, Slack, Email etc etc etc)
Also does some pretty clever stuff if you're into monitoring JSON API's for changes too!
Most of all - it's opensource
Very easy to add new sites and setup monitors once I fiddled around with the filters and used CSS Selectors. The docker setup was mildly complex, but I wanted to self-host the whole setup. It was worth it.
I'm using it self-hosted on Cloudron, with more than 300 watches configured. it is the most reliable and configurable solution in this field. a must have for everyone.
A very functional tool for tracking changes on websites, but its installation and configuration requires special technical training, which most users do not have.
Editted: The browser app requires an $8.99 subscription. The Windows install, which I haven't done, recommends a Python Pip install.
UNTRUE!!! All code is available HERE https://github.com/dgtlmoon/changedetection.io and you can get to THAT LINK by following the GitHub icon on their homepage!!! you are totally wrong
um, no, but the fact that the program is free makes the program free.
It only cost money if you want THEM to host it for you. If you self-host, its free. That's why its labelled as "Freemium".
If you had actually scrolled down and read the Github page you would have found the installation instructions and links to the wiki for install help.
When you click the listed link, it is for a Chrome Browser app which requires an $8.99 subscription. However, it is possible that a Windows installation (which requires a Python installation) provides a free service.
You are right. Indeed, some of the functionality of this FOSS application is paid. This functionality concerns its availability to people without computer education. "Free only for our own".
Open source & easy to use
Life saver app, don't remember how many times it helped me buy theater tickets from the best seats. Thanks!
