What is BrowserOS?
BrowserOS is an open-source agentic browser that runs AI agents locally. Your privacy-first alternative to Perplexity Comet.
Core features:
- Local AI Agents: We're putting powerful AI agents (using browser-use & computer-use models) directly into BrowserOS. Automate any boring workflow. It all runs on your machine!
- True Privacy with Ollama: We're not a search or ad company. Your data stays local with built-in Ollama support. We are also building an LLM-based ad-blocker after Chrome blocked uBlock Origin.
- Open Source & Familiar: BrowserOS is a Chromium fork, 100% open-source under the AGPL-3.0 license. It feels like the browser you know—every extension works. No lock-in.
- Next-gen productivity: Native highlighter and ChatGPT-powered bookmarker built directly into the browser. Semantic search over your browser history, bookmarks and so on.
Use cases:
- Automate The Boring Stuff: Tired of the grind? Schedule meetings, fill forms, crush repetitive tasks with a few clicks. Let BrowserOS handle it. You focus on what really matters.
- Deep Research Like A Pro: Need deep research? BrowserOS roams the web, builds a report, and hands you the summary. No more drowning in manual tabs.
- Find Content That Matters: Boost YOUR brand. Tell BrowserOS to scan LinkedIn and Twitter, find posts actually worth engaging with. No more endless scrolling for the good stuff.

Comments and Reviews
While I appreciate the open source and local approach remember that LLM can easily being hijack, poisoined and attack from hidden texts. AI browser are not a great idea in my opinion. We will see how it goes in the future!
Nikhil Sonti and Nithin Venkat Sonti are twin brothers and co-founders of BrowserOS.
Looks cool. I hope it gets to linux soon!
