All bookmark link checkers that I have tried have the same basic flaw: they identify links that are dead, only at the time it is run. It makes no allowance for links that are only temporarily unavailable..
My suggestion:- Lets say you run the link check monthly – the checker would mark each dead link with an asterisk inserted at the beginning of the faulty link's name. After say a second check – if the link works remove the asterisk, but if it fails again add another asterisk. After the link has accumulated say 3 asterisks (or other user-selectable number) delete the link. This has the extra advantage that, when you are browsing normally, clicking on an asterisked-bookmark you will know in advance that there are problems with the link and you can try to resolve the problem, or delete the link immediately.
