Autocrat

Autocrat is a free Google Workspace add-on that enables mail merge and document generation directly from Google Sheets. It allows users to map spreadsheet columns to template placeholders in Google Docs, then automatically generate personalized documents — either as Google Docs files or exported PDFs — for each row of data.

Autocrat is widely used in education and nonprofit sectors for generating certificates, report cards, permission slips, and form-based documents. It supports trigger-based automation through Google Forms, meaning a document can be generated automatically every time a new form is submitted.

Key capabilities include conditional merge logic, email delivery of generated documents, multiple job configurations on a single spreadsheet, and the ability to merge data into existing documents rather than always creating new ones.
