asciiTeX is described as 'ASCII equation renderer released under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The program can generate ASCII-art representations of mathematical equations. You can use asciiTeX to quickly insert equations in e.g. e-mails or comments in your source-code' and is an app. There are three alternatives to asciiTeX for Windows, Linux and Mac. The best asciiTeX alternative is latex2rtf, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like asciiTeX are tex2mail and tex2unicode.
