It has many great features like: one tabbed message window for all conversations; quick search for contacts; file sending (even through FTP thanks to extensions); picture sending (even screenshots of selected applications); nice skins and smiles with possibility to change/create own ones; possibility to use extensions installed with several clicks from the website.
