What is AmigaOS 3.1?

This version was originally shipped with the Amiga 1200 and Amiga 4000 computers. Version added datatypes support and Workbench could load any background image in any format if the required datatype was installed. This feature was also used in Multiview. Its capabilities were directly related to the datatypes installed in Devs:Datatypes. The established AmigaGuide hypertext system gained more usability by using document links pointing to mediafiles, for example pictures or sounds, all recognized by the datatypes.
