Agros2D is described as 'Multiplatform C++ application for the solution of partial differential equations (PDE) based on the Hermes2D library, developed by the group of Pavel Karban at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen' and is an app. There are three alternatives to Agros2D for Windows, Linux and Mac. The best Agros2D alternative is GetDP, which is both free and Open Source. Other great apps like Agros2D are QuickField and FEMM.

QuickField is a Finite Element Analysis package for electromagnetic, thermal, and stress design simulation with coupled multi-field analysis.

FEMM is a suite of programs for solving low frequency electro magnetic problems on two-dimensional planar and axisymmetric domains. The program currently add resses linear/nonlinear magneto- static problems, linear/nonlinear time harmonic magnetic problems, linear electrostatic p.
