What is Advanced English Dictionary?
Advanced English Dictionary is better than other dictionaries, not just because it contains far more words than a conventional paper dictionary, but because it uses a radically new approach to searching for words. Instead of just listing the words and their definitions, AED shows how every word is linked to another.
For example, type in the word "tree" and you will get not only the definition, synonyms and opposites, but the hypernyms (a tree is a kind of what?), meronyms (what are the parts of a tree?) and more. You can also find a list of hundreds of trees, from yellowwood to the Tree of Knowledge.

Comments and Reviews
AED is fast. I mean, really fast. It barely takes two seconds to launch on my 2nd-gen iPod Touch, and that's while running iOS4 (which is annoying slow on older devices). In comparison, the Dictionary.com app for iOS takes a frustrating 4-5 seconds on average to start up. That might not sound like much, but it's terrible when you just want to look up to definition of "dichotomous" before you forget how to spell it. This can probably be tied to the fact that the app is only 16 MB, while Dictionary.com is a whopping 150 MB.
I'll be using AED from now on.
