WordPress adds Telegram bot, MCP controls, and complimentary access to paid newsletter
Automattic has introduced a new WordPress agent bot for Telegram, allowing users to manage their WordPress.com sites directly from the messaging app. Through Telegram, site owners can publish posts, check site statistics, look up domains, and correct typos on the go. This feature is now available in alpha and may be subject to plan-based limitations.
Building on workflow enhancements, Studio Sync, previously restricted to higher tiers, is now available on all paid WordPress Studio plans, including personal and premium. This makes it possible for users to sync their locally developed sites using the desktop app both to and from live WordPress.com environments, opening advanced development workflows to a wider range of users.
Following these updates, newsletter publishers can now grant individual subscribers complimentary access to paid newsletter tiers, all without requiring a credit card from the subscriber. Publishers can select which paid tier to assign, monitor, or remove complimentary access at any time from the subscriber management screen.
In addition, the management of Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools has been improved. Read and write MCP tools now appear on distinct pages, and specific controls are grouped by site areas like posts, pages, or account. MCP tooling and access can now be enabled per site, giving greater configuration flexibility. This release also brings broader reliability and user experience improvements across WordPress.com.
