Storybook 10.3 brings MCP for React, accessibility upgrades, and expanded CSF Factories

Storybook 10.3 makes a major advance with the introduction of Model Component Protocol (MCP) for React. This feature lets AI agents interact with real interface components, stories, documentation, and tests, allowing agents to build production-ready user interfaces, discover existing elements, and reuse them across design systems. Agents can also preview their component stories live within chat and run targeted component or accessibility tests for faster iteration.

Building on recent accessibility initiatives, Storybook 10.3 substantially improves ARIA semantics, keyboard navigation and focus management, color contrast, high-contrast support, landmark navigation, and motion reduction. Documentation is now better aligned with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and usability features such as accessible resize handles and zoom controls have also received updates.

Following the release of Storybook 10 and its CSF Factories, this update further expands type-safe workflows and improved autocompletion for writing component examples. Previously limited to React, CSF Factories now support Vue, Angular, and web components, reducing boilerplate for broader frontend teams.

Rounding out the release, core ecosystem improvements include compatibility updates for Vite 8, Next.js 16.2, ESLint 10, Angular 21, as well as added CLI initialization support for Rsbuild and Preact support for the Vitest addon.

Storybook is an open-source tool designed for developing UI components in isolation, supporting frameworks like React, Vue, and Angular. It streamlines the process of building organized and efficient user interfaces by allowing developers to work on components independently from the main application. This facilitates better testing, documentation, and collaboration across development teams.
