Wine 11.4 released with MSXML enhancements, DirectSound audio optimizations, and bug fixes

Wine 11.4, the compatibility layer for running Windows applications on Linux, macOS, and BSD, is now available. This release features several noteworthy improvements for users seeking a smoother experience with Windows programs on POSIX-compliant platforms.

Among the key changes, Wine 11.4 introduces a reimplemented SAX reader for the Microsoft XML (MSXML) library. This update is designed to enhance support for Windows applications that rely on XML processing. Resampling optimizations have also been made in DirectSound, providing more efficient audio handling for applications and games running through Wine.

Following these core updates, Wine 11.4 now includes early steps towards a proper implementation of the CFGMGR32 Windows system library, potentially broadening application compatibility. Unix timezone support has been improved for closer matching, which will benefit applications sensitive to time and locale data.

In addition to new features, this update delivers 17 bug fixes affecting a range of popular software, such as Roblox Studio, Xara Xtreme 4, CodeGear RAD Studio 2009, FL Studio, and iZotope. The ongoing bug fixes contribute to improved reliability and user experience across supported applications.
