Telegram adds member tags, login with Telegram, sharing prevention in private chats & more

Telegram's latest update introduces group tags, allowing members to display a role or affiliation next to their name within group chats. Group administrators can decide whether members set these tags themselves or if only admins assign them, expanding options for group organization.

In addition, users gain new privacy tools for 1-on-1 chats. Sharing can now be disabled in any private conversation, which blocks message forwarding and prevents screenshots or saving media within that chat, fostering more secure communication.

Following enhancements to group management and privacy, Telegram expands creative abilities through its media editor. Users can now add captions directly to GIFs and edit GIFs or stickers with text, drawings, emoji, and the option to trim GIF length. Photos viewed in the media viewer can be instantly converted into editable stickers, allowing for quick object cuts and annotation before sending.

Building on interactive features, polls now reveal the timestamp of each visible vote, providing greater context in group decisions. Bots can deliver text replies that stream live in the chat window, enhancing engagement when interacting with automated accounts. Furthermore, users can sign up and log in to external websites and apps via their Telegram account credentials, bypassing traditional forms and passwords. Lastly, a new formatting option allows messages to include specific dates and times.
