Qt Creator 19 brings minimap, easier configuration of remote devices, MCP server, and more

Qt Creator 19 has been released, updating this cross-platform integrated development environment for C++, JavaScript, Python, and QML. This latest version introduces an optional minimap feature, giving users a simplified overview of their document and allowing navigation similar to a scroll bar.

Alongside this, the configuration of remote build devices is now easier. Users can register their device and use automatic detection to set up tools such as the Qt version, compiler, debugger, and CMake. An appropriate kit is also created automatically, and individual tool detection can be filtered per device in the settings.

Following these workflow enhancements, Qt Creator 19 incorporates a basic MCP server. This feature enables HTTP clients to open files and projects, build, run, and debug them, all via POST requests with server-sent events for responses. Building on Open Workspace functionality, support now includes Ant, Cargo, Dotnet, Gradle, and Swift projects, allowing direct opening of project files and automatic configuration of build and run settings based on the detected tool.

Additional improvements include better performance, updated packages, reworked preferences, and more.
