Motorola partners with GrapheneOS to boost smartphone security and privacy for its users
Motorola has announced a new partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation to raise the bar for smartphone security for its users. This agreement aims to strengthen the privacy and protection features on future Motorola devices by working closely with the creators of GrapheneOS, an Android-based operating system known for its security focus.
Building on this partnership, both organizations plan to engineer future Motorola phones with GrapheneOS compatibility in mind. While until now, GrapheneOS has only been available for Google Pixel phones, Motorola’s involvement signals the possibility of expanded support for other brands, which could attract privacy-minded consumers looking for additional options.
Further collaboration is expected, including ongoing research and software enhancements designed to create new security capabilities for Motorola owners. However, Motorola has not yet revealed which specific models will be compatible with GrapheneOS, whether the operating system will come preinstalled or as an optional download, or when these improvements will be available to customers.
In parallel to the GrapheneOS partnership, Motorola is rolling out a new Moto Secure feature called Private Image Data. This tool removes sensitive metadata, like location information, from photos taken on select devices and is set to become available to more users in the coming months.

I would kill for a small to mid-sized phone in the look of the first moto g. Clean, round and simple. No hyper specced-, 70 inch 144hz display with camera cutout-, 20 million features and apps BS. I'm being nostalgic and It costs too much to design / make a phone for a handful of niche enthusiasts to buy it, but please, we have to find a solution here.
I literally daily drive a Moto Edge 40 Neo right now! This is so exciting!!! Motorola already makes quality hardware with a faily debloated android flavor, they just keep scoring wins in my books!
me after noticing grapheneOS is slowly becoming less pixel-exclusive: Woooooh! Yeaaaah, Baby!
If done right, this could be a huge selling point for Motorola, specially if the phones come pre-installed with GrapheneOS.
Excited to see where this goes.
Motorola, Motorola... wait a second... like the Motorola Razr phone in 2000s?
I though the brand disappeared long time ago, but no, Google then Lenovo bought it in 2010s. It even poorly made a new Razr foldable phone in 2020 (with a FIFA special edition), and a thick black ThinkPad-like phone named ThinkPhone.
And now, this GrapheneOS long-term partnership that Motorola was unable to explain why. Ironically, "Intelligence Everywhere" used to be the brand slogan.
Motorola is actually in the 10 best-selling smartphone brands in the world (almost the same market share as Google, Honor, Realme and OnePlus).
I'll use it at some point, once I need a new phone, and Mint Mobile carries it! I mean I love getting away from the paranoia of being monitored.
