Kitty terminal 0.46 adds smooth momentum-based scrolling, tab reordering & split resizing

Kitty 0.46, an open source GPU-accelerated terminal emulator, is now available for Linux, macOS, and some BSD distributions. This update continues the project's commitment to high performance and cross-platform support.

Among its most notable changes, Kitty 0.46 introduces major improvements to mouse interactions. The scrollback buffer now supports smooth and momentum-based scrolling, offering a more natural and kinetic feel for navigating terminal history. This builds on the emulator’s previously strong mouse support and responds to feedback from users seeking a fluid scrolling experience.

Additionally, the release elevates workflow flexibility by allowing tabs to be reordered with a simple drag-and-drop, moved between windows, or detached into new windows entirely. Following this, another highly requested enhancement is the ability to resize window splits directly with the mouse, making pane management more intuitive for users who frequently work with multiple terminal views.
