Ghostty 1.3 adds scrollback search, native scrollbars & clickable cursor in shell prompts

Ghostty 1.3.0, a cross-platform terminal emulator known for its speed and GPU-accelerated, platform-native interface, introduces several key updates. Users can now search their terminal scrollback, highlight matches, and navigate results efficiently. On macOS and GTK, the search bar can be repositioned to any corner of the terminal to minimize visual interference.

Building on usability, Ghostty now uses native scrollbars styled to each platform and enables standard interactions. The new update also allows users to receive notifications when long-running commands finish, aiding multitasking workflows. Clipboard copying has been refined: content now retains colors and styles when pasted into rich text editors.

Following community feedback, new configuration settings let you control working directory inheritance for new tabs, windows, and split panes. Advanced users benefit from expanded keybind features, including key tables, chained keybinds, and a catch_all key. The update bolsters interactivity with added support for OSC 133 Semantic Prompts, letting users move the cursor with the mouse in active shell prompts, fully supported in Fish and Nushell.

Expanding macOS functionality, Ghostty adds AppleScript integration and allows users to reorder splits by dragging. Unicode and international text rendering, performance improvements, and unobtrusive macOS update notifications round out the release.
