Clip Studio Paint 5.0 adds Smart Shape, upgraded performance, improved blurring & 3D tools

Clip Studio Paint 5.0 is now available for users on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS, marking a major update for illustrators and animators working across devices. This version focuses heavily on creative workflow optimizations.

At the core, artists benefit from significant improvements to drawing performance. The Smart Shape feature speeds up the process of making clean lines and shapes. Rendering is also faster, while blurring and watercolor edge quality have been refined for more natural effects. These changes aim to streamline the drawing process for both professionals and hobbyists.

Expanding on 3D capabilities, version 5.0 debuts 3D hand models, adds realistic metal and gloss textures, and enables painting on additional 3D model types. A new grouping feature also allows users to organize and move multiple 3D models as a single unit, enhancing scene construction and pose adjustments.

Building on brush capabilities, a velocity dynamic has been added, allowing brush size and opacity to respond to the drawing speed. This option is accessible within pen pressure and tilt settings, delivering more nuanced control for digital painting.

Following these creative enhancements, the release introduces updated user interface elements: the workspace and palettes have been improved, the Material palette is upgraded, and transform functionality is expanded. Additional updates address multipage and print workflows, deliver better general performance, and add features to the app's simple mode.
