WordPress.com launches an AI assistant that can edit site content, create media, and more

WordPress has launched its AI assistant, now available directly within WordPress.com. Unlike standalone solutions, the assistant integrates with your existing site workflows. Users no longer need to copy and paste or use prompt engineering, as the AI functions natively in the editor and media library.

For subscribers on Business and Commerce plans, the AI assistant can be enabled at no extra cost. Once activated, it appears in multiple locations: the main editor for site structure and design guidance, and the media library for creating and editing images more easily. Additionally, the assistant is available in block notes, introduced in WordPress 6.9, allowing team members to collaborate on content inside the editor.

Following the experience already provided by the AI website builder, this update brings conversational site-building features to broader editing and media tasks. This means users who already benefit from AI-powered site creation will now find those capabilities extended across their workflow.
