Threads introduces “Dear algo”, an AI-powered feature to personalize your feed's algorithm
Threads, Meta's microblogging platform, has launched a new feature called “Dear algo” that uses artificial intelligence to let users tailor their content recommendation algorithm. This move follows a trend where users would publicly ask the app’s algorithm for specific types of content, prompting the Threads team to formalize this as an interactive tool.
To use “Dear algo”, users open the composer in the Threads app and start a post with those words. They then describe what they want to see more or less frequently in their feed. The artificial intelligence behind the feature will then adjust the user’s recommendations for three days based on these requests.
At launch, this tool is available exclusively to Threads users in Australia and New Zealand. Meta has not indicated when, or if, the feature will be expanded to other regions.
While interacting with “Dear algo”, users should be aware that these posts function as normal Threads content. Posts are visible to all if the account is public, or just to followers if set to private. This approach aims to blend evolving user habits with algorithmic customization within existing privacy settings.

I just cannot stop laughing at the name “Dear Algo.” Who the hell came up with this name?
lol, they can't help themselves. They're literally in the middle of a lawsuit about engineering addiction, and they still release this.
