OpenTTD 15.0 brings infinite water maps, bridges over stations, waypoints, and UI updates
OpenTTD 15.0 has launched as the latest version of this open source simulation game based upon Transport Tycoon Deluxe. This release introduces a significant shift in multiplayer access: companies no longer require passwords. Instead, hosts can invite specific players directly using the Online Players list. This update also offers new design options, as island maps may now be surrounded by infinite water rather than void, altering how maps are created and played.
Building on these changes, players can now construct bridges over both stations and road stops, expanding infrastructure possibilities. Road networks become more flexible with the addition of waypoints, while manual house placement grants finer control to city planners. In cases where rivers cannot connect to the sea, they will now end in wetlands, delivering more realistic map generation.
Industries and towns receive an upgrade with historical graphs for cargo tracking, helping players analyze freight management across time. Following these core changes, menu improvements deliver a new main menu and a unified window for game options and settings. Version 15.0 also incorporates several additional features, refinements, and bug fixes that enhance overall gameplay.
