Proton Mail's new iOS/Android app brings refreshed design, improved speed and offline mode
Proton has launched the seventh major version of Proton Mail for both iOS and Android, describing it as the largest update to its mobile email apps so far. The apps now run on a new code base written in Rust, allowing the development team to deliver new features more quickly and ensure that both platforms receive updates at the same time.
Following this architectural overhaul, a redesigned interface improves navigation and accessibility. Frequently used actions, such as composing messages, are now easier to reach, and the gesture-driven navigation is more intuitive. The most noticeable upgrade for many users is speed: routine tasks like inbox scrolling, archiving conversations, and replying are now approximately twice as fast.
Building on these changes, Proton Mail mobile apps now support a complete offline mode, letting users read, write, and organize emails without an internet connection. Once connectivity is restored, all changes sync automatically. In addition, this update brings feature parity to iOS and Android, introducing tools like snooze and scheduled messages to all users for a consistent experience, regardless of device.
The new Proton Mail app is being rolled out gradually for iOS and Android users.

Just tried the new app, and it is a large improvement over the old one. Finally, offline support has been added, which is a big deal for me.
