Plex alerts users to reset their passwords following a new data breach

Plex has notified its users of a recent security incident that may have compromised account information. According to the official disclosure, an unauthorized third party accessed a limited subset of customer data, including emails, usernames, and hashed passwords. While the company has not revealed exactly how many accounts were affected or details about the attackers' methods, it confirms that the breach has been contained.

Following the incident, Plex is advising all users to reset their passwords and turn on two-factor authentication for extra account protection.
