OpenAI launches ChatGPT Pulse in preview to proactively do your daily research
OpenAI has released a preview of ChatGPT Pulse, now available to Pro users on mobile devices. Pulse introduces a new proactive approach, with ChatGPT performing research based on your conversation history, feedback, and integrations with apps such as your email and calendar. Instead of waiting for user queries, ChatGPT now compiles daily updates tailored to your interests.
In this initial rollout, Pulse delivers its findings as topical visual cards. Users can quickly browse these cards or tap for deeper details, making it easier to start each day informed. The system learns your preferences over time: by marking content as useful or not, you help curate the type of research Pulse conducts. Each night, it synthesizes your memory, chat activity, and direct feedback to refine the next day's updates.
While currently in preview, Pulse is expected to evolve based on early Pro user feedback. OpenAI plans to expand access to Plus and eventually all users. During this period, Pulse may display some less-relevant recommendations, so user input will be essential to improvement. This development reflects ChatGPT’s shift from reactive question-answering to a proactive digital assistant that anticipates and responds to individual needs.

Never fully trust AI. I once asked it how many episodes were in Vinland Saga Season 2 and it confidently told me a wrong answer. Imagine if that was the only "research" I did for something that actually matters.
As long as it doesn't evolve into a platform to create psych profiles of people, or spy on their work and steal their ideas, or turn into an advertisement platform that starts showing you ads, or "suggesting" irrelevant information.... as long as that doesn't happen, then this is a good idea. I can imagine the ongoing campaign to infiltrate and corrupt AI with marketing.
I am not okay with the privacy implications of being "profiled" by these major AI companies. Back when I used Perplexity, all I had to do was ask one question: "What information do you have about me?" And voila - it knew me better than anyone else! Deleted the account and am using provider(s) with API queries, no profile required.
