Home Assistant 2025.9 adds new home dashboard, editor sidebar, and new tile card features

Home Assistant 2025.9 is now available as the latest release of this open-source home automation platform. This update delivers several high-impact user interface changes targeting both new and experienced users.

Most notably, the automation editor now presents a streamlined sidebar interface. When you select an item in an automation, the related settings open in a right-hand sidebar, replacing the previous expand-in-place design. This aims to make editing automations more intuitive and efficient. Building on user experience improvements, a brand-new Home dashboard has been introduced. It adapts to each user's experience level and offers quick access to relevant information, providing an accessible entry point for newcomers as well as advanced controls for seasoned users.

Alongside these major updates, tile card features on dashboards are significantly expanded. Users can add trend charts, use advanced media player controls, bar gauges, fan direction and oscillation controls, new button variants, valve position settings, and display date and datetime information. These options give users greater flexibility when customizing their smart home interface. Finally, this version provides four new integrations, updates for existing integrations, and a range of other improvements and bug fixes.
