Firefox 143 launches with PWA support, Microsoft Copilot integration & live webcam preview
Mozilla has released Firefox 143, introducing a range of new functions and enhancements across platforms. On Windows, users can now pin websites as web apps directly to the taskbar and run them as simplified windows without losing access to installed add-ons. The release also brings support for Windows UI Automation, which improves accessibility with tools like Windows Voice Access, the Text Cursor Indicator, and Narrator.
Building on these workflow changes, tabs can now be pinned by dragging them to the start of the tab strip, making it simpler to keep key sites accessible. Microsoft Copilot can be set as a sidebar chatbot, allowing fast interaction without leaving the main browser view. When sites request camera access, users now receive a live preview in the permission dialog to help select the correct device.
Following these improvements, Firefox has expanded its fingerprinting protections, reporting constant values for additional device attributes. Downloaded files in private browsing mode now prompt users to keep or delete the file after the session has ended. The address bar now displays notable dates and events for users in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy. Users on Windows 11 22H2+, macOS, and Android 9+ gain support for xHE-AAC audio playback. Version 143 also delivers further enhancements for developers, as well as various bug fixes.
