Debian 13.1 “Trixie” released with many bug fixes and security updates

The Debian project has released Debian 13.1, marking the first update to its stable “Trixie” distribution. This point release focuses mainly on providing security fixes and resolving a number of serious issues that have surfaced since the previous stable release.

While this update improves security and stability, it does not represent a new version of Debian 13. Only certain packages have been updated. Users who have already installed Debian 13 do not need to obtain fresh installation media, as all current packages are available through standard Debian mirrors for upgrade post-installation.

New users and system administrators who want to set up installations from scratch will soon have access to updated Debian 13.1 images at the usual download locations. Following this update, Debian has also released version 12.12, which similarly offers security and package improvements. Like with Debian 13.1, Debian 12.12 is tailored primarily for new system configurations, as existing installations require no immediate action beyond standard updates.
