Zen web browser finally gets folders, simplifying tab grouping in the sidebar
Zen, the customizable browser built on Firefox, has released version 1.15b, spotlighting a long-requested feature. Users can now create folders from the sidebar, name them, add tabs to folders by dragging them, and manage their organization with options to rename, delete, or rearrange folders. This enhancement gives greater control over managing projects or categorized tabs and links.
Following the core update, Zen now uses [Firefox 142](Firefox 142) as its foundation, supplying the latest security and underlying technology improvements from Mozilla. Complementing the major features, this release refines the look and feel by introducing monochromatic icons for spaces and folders, and adds a subtle animation during browser updates. For those who rely on structured workflows, third-party domains loaded from pinned or essential tabs will automatically open in separate tabs.
On Windows systems, Zen 1.15b brings a more native appearance to compact mode, with a clearer separation between the sidebar and window edge. Several issues affecting user experience are addressed: compact mode no longer twitches when hovering the URL bar, pinned tab titles correctly display in search results, and performance issues related to pinned tab preloading at startup have been resolved.
